Ghost Briyani

Yesterday i.e. March 21, 2010 my roomy made me to eat semi cooked Mutton. Allow me to depict ineluctable situation.

Chotu: (Around 4 PM) Faak I haven’t eaten anything since morning, I’m gonna make Mutton Briyani. I know I’ll screw but then why face alone; I should somehow involve my roomy. (Sends a text message to me for NOC).

Me: Hesitatingly reads the message. Wow!!! This evening came up with an unexpected surprise. I have to make some alternative dinner arrangements. Chotu went berserk and did not make an attempt to press Reply button.

Chotu: What the fuck, no reply. Damn what the fuck he thinks of himself, if he can make then I’m no lesser then him. I’ll show him who the Boss is Huh!!!!!

Meanwhile chotu began with his quest of Mutton Briyani. Time passes and I eventually came home. To my surprise he bought every single thing needed. Now just for the record, he followed each and everything from the internet, even the time of waiting, means 15 minutes can’t be 14 or 16 :). Such disciplined demeanor he demonstrated. (Hope his office colleagues reading “the timing”).

Not only mutton was semi cooked, the rice which I thought will save my hunger also got burnt. Such is a way of my room partner to have his revenge. Why food??? Why mutton?? He knows how much I love mutton then also such a hideous act???

Anyways, later he realized his fault and vowed not to attempt it again.

Conclusion:
Failures encourages us to "Try Again" but it also gives an option of "Never Try Again"

Cheers guys

khichdi

Food is irresistible; everyone loves to eat delicious food with nice thick curry floating, great in taste, mouth watering blah blah blah! Few food lovers are ever ready to hit any damn venue (FYI writer comes in same category).

Q is how many of you love to eat Khichdi? Delete love; how many of you ever gave a thought on Khichdi. Frankly speaking I wasn’t big fan of Khichdi truly saying I was never. Still remember when mom used to make it and with such an ease I disrespected it like this food is non existent for me. Damn!! Value and respect food guys!!

But lately this all is reversed in an insane manner. I had Khichdi straight 5 times in a row in dinner. Some credit for this sudden dramatic change and inclination of love towards Khichdi goes to my roomy who doesn’t know anything else to prepare. This actually benefited me as I was looking for good non oily food for dinner.

As usual experiments were conducted with Khichdi preparations which resulted in more high protein and carbohydrate diet.

Give a shot if haven’t

Ramen Soup

Inspired from the movie “The Ramen girl”, I decided to have ramen soup in Bangalore. But wish for having an authentic Japanese ramen soup in Bangalore was daunting task.

I shared this wish with my room partner and we started searching for restaurants in Bangalore but not able to find not even a single restaurant. I thought this isn’t a big deal and next day we can taste it. After lot of looking up, conferring with friends, I almost gave up on the wish. I almost ended up in going Japan.

But my room partner suggested why we don’t make it at home. Dubiously we made up our mind and started the formulations considering expenditure of going to Japan will be saved. Within a second, PC (courtesy to Google) showed us the authentic ramen soup recipe.

Went to market, bought all necessary items as indicated in recipe and initiated the project “Ramen soup”. Project lasted for 3 hours for obvious reasons. We were novice, noodles were hand made and disarray.

I duly accept, first preparation was not up to the mark but latter ones were amazing and every time we superseded the previous (part of continuous learning).

Just less than 100 bucks, servings for 3 people were made although we are just two. Successfully completion of the project ensued in the cancellation of Japan trip without any deferment.

Kudos to me and my room partner

Bye!!

Egg-Potato-Curry

For the past few months, I have been cooking. I know most of you people will not take this thing seriously and may mock but fact remains same. Moreover, guys are better cook than gals. Reason I can think of getting less opportunity to showcase their cooking talent and resultant they apply their emotional ingredients with the mix of passion and dedication.

Yesterday, we made Egg curry. Just FYI egg comes under both veg and non-veg category. Normally people serve this dish with full boiled eggs, some even fry them to make it crispy but friends our approach was different. It was sort of experiment and risk but then we are risk takers.

We altered the name to Egg-Aaloo-Cury . Altering the name is first step. And instead of placing boiled or fried egg, we placed yolk and albumen in the curry, the raw yellow and white part.

The complete recipe as follows (please give your 200% attention as any mistake can result in havoc results).

1) Chop the onions as small as possible (depending on how you want the curry increase the count of onions, simple rule no of onions directly proportional to thickness of curry.)
2) Be ready with garlic and ginger paste.
3) Boiled the potatoes, peel it and cut into considerable pieces.
4) Fine grained pieces of green chilly.
5) Put egg-curry mix into a bowl with water (for proper soaking).
6) Chopped coriander.
7) Put smashed part of egg into bowl (without water )

Put everything in cooker, give 3 whistles @ low fame and serve hot. Just kidding!!

Now, put some oil in cooker with chopped onions and green chilly and fry until reddish color appears. Now lay potato in it. Amalgamate them properly. After some time put ginger-garlic paste and again mix them.

Ready carefully as climax of this dish approaching. Smashed egg is given to the curry we just prepared. Let it cook for few minutes and then chip in egg-curry mix. Again cook it for few minutes and then put coriander leaves. Close the cooker and give 3 whistles @ moderate fame.

Voila!! It’d done whewww!!

Please go ahead and server hot now.

Soup Affect

Breakfast should never be vamoosed but we aren’t doing it intentional. It just happens no matter how hard we try, we just fall for it. This can turn upside down normal diet routine. Exactly same thing happened with us. Last Sunday, I and Rajput a.k.a Gaanda Bhai were sleeping like horse. Resultant, breakfast and lunch inadvertently missed.

Evening came with hungry empty-bellied tummies. I felt like someone has undergone some kind of evacuation. So we thought of visiting BEJING BITES; an authentic Chinese restaurant. It just happened I asked one of the servers “Are you guys from Beijing?” He replied “Beijing???????????” Hope message is conveyed.

Rajput insisted for soup, so we ordered “Veg Lemon Pepper Soup” and rest particulars. The first sip of soup commanded the rest dinner. Virtually, smoke came out from my ears like a whistle. Even though I wasn’t crying tears were flowing like Ganga Jamuna, sweat on the forehead in the presence of decent AC ambience. And I forget to tell initially we added extra pepper!! Woes bestowed not knowing the nature of soup.

Accession of tomato sauce in the peppery soup mitigated the situation but the damage was already done. Aftermaths were seen next morning in the washroom which was affirmed by Rajput.

So, if you are in a mood to take sweet revenge, please do order above mentioned soup. It won’t let you down.

Visit to MORE!!

Nowadays people are in much favor of going to food departmental stores like Food-World, MORE, Fab-Mall etc, reason being: freshness of goods, diversity in commodities, availability of new products, variety and convenience. I agree with all the points and they are damn true but past Sunday, had an incident in the MORE which I would like to share. Not a big one, but still it deserves some kind of attention!!

I didn’t go to MORE to buy many things, just a washing powder, but eventually landed in buying many things, which is usual with me. At the cashier counter, final bill was handed to me and I was just about to give the money and the same time just had a glimpse of the bill (specially the price of washing powder), also eyes went on the printed amount on the washing powder packet. Reason behind that I was just doing some stupid calculations on 200 gms and 500 gms (buying which, I’ll get cheaper deal!!) at that time when I took that packet. Quite lucky enough!! Result was “mismatch between the amount on the bill and washing powder packet”, although the difference was just of 3 rupees but then why to pay more than the prescribed amount. Just imagine same difference on 20 items, you will end up paying 60 rupees more, which is foolishness!!

In fact, exactly same thing happened with my friend, who accompanied me and standing just behind me (next turn was his). Later he told me, it’s normal in the MORE and it already happened with him more than 5 times.

If you see the slogan that MORE advertises “Our mission is to change the way people shop. We will give them more” (Aditya Birla Group). Very true friends!! Mission is slightly and slowly adding “We will take MORE from people” legally!!

So, just a note, always check the amount on the item and the bill, no harm in spending 5 minutes on it. Saying because I was never in the habit of this thing!!
